What is a Marriage and Family Therapist?
Marriage and Family Therapists are trained to view individuals, couples, families,
and groups from a systemic perspective. Everyone is part of a larger context—
every one of us comes from a family of some type, a neighborhood, a society, and
a culture. MFT's believe the whole context needs to be
acknowledged in order to
understand what is keeping the "problem" in place.
We believe understanding yourself in context, as well as the forces that are constantly influencing you, is key to making changes and living a more healthy, balanced, joyful life.
